Athlete's Mother Serves as Coach

Five-foot-6, 125-pound Chris Williams is a real-life Mighty Mouse, a description meant as pure praise for this 15-year-old who seems to defy gravity in the high jump.

The Rio Rancho High School leaper cleared the bar at 6-6, a full foot higher than the top of his head, to win the Class 5A boys title at the state meet in Alamogordo last weekend.

The junior-to-be also was the starting point guard for his school's basketball team, played cornerback during football season and was a sprinter this past school year.
