Wilson to Chair Medicaid Panel.(Final)

Rep. Heather Wilson, R-N.M., has been named chairwoman of a new congressional panel that will explore ways to improve Medicaid, the federal health insurance program for low-income Americans.

Wilson will chair the Congressional Medicaid Task Force, comprised of five members of Congress with an interest in health care issues.

Rep. Billy Tauzin, R-La., chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, said he appointed Wilson, a member of the committee, to steer the panel because she understands the issues surrounding Medicaid.

"Heather Wilson was my first choice," Tauzin said in a statement. "Congresswoman Wilson knows these issues inside and out, and she's passionate about finding some common-sense solutions. …
