Summer performances will range from sizzling to sultry By David Steinberg

The heat's on.

With Memorial Day weekend, the unofficial advent of summer, you will find oodles of local players poised to crank up the volume at the concert scene.

And that means the annual All-Star Blues Jam kicks off the summer season. More than 40 musicians will perform in seven sets Sunday, May 25, at Madrid's Oscar Huber Memorial Ballpark.

The jam will have players from, among other bands, the Memphis P-Tails, Cadillac Bob and the Rhinestones, the Alex Maryol Band, the Sultans, the Todd Tijerina band, the Blues Kings, the Albuquerque Blues Connection, the Rattlecats, Alpha Blue, Tony Rio and Voodoo Chili.

"Everyone looks forward to it and tries to get in on the show," said guitarist/jam coordinator Chris Dracup. (He will be playing, too.)

"Because everyone has been playing a different club on any given night, the musicians often don't have the opportunity to hang out together and have a little community. …
