FLAG DAY.(West Side Journal)

U.S. Army Capt. Leo Lesch, who has been serving in Afghanistan, wanted to show his appreciation for the support he has received from Rio Rancho High School. He did that in the most patriotic way he knew how -- by giving the school an American flag.

The flag was flown on one of several of his helicopter combat missions in Afghanistan. His cousin, Brittany Lesch, who just graduated from the school, presented the flag to Principal Gary Tripp earlier this month.

The flag was blessed by a deacon from the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and then flown at the school for a day. It is now stored in the school's archives.
