Purchase Card Probe Continues

Nearly six months after the FBI issued its first search warrants targeting two former Los Alamos National Laboratory employees, alleged to have bought more than $300,000 worth of merchandise for their personal use, the Justice Department has sought no indictments yet in the case.

"There is no change in the status of the case," said Norm Cairns, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Albuquerque. "Department of Justice policy strictly precludes me from talking about pending investigations," he said.

On Oct. 30, U.S. Magistrate Richard Puglisi granted FBI special agent Jeffrey Campbell the right to search the home and recreational vehicle of Peter Bussolini, the former supervisor of a maintenance division in LANL's Technical Area 33, or TA-33. …
