A recitation of good causes served doesn't guarantee good intentions any more than sticking "non" in front of "profit" ensures a corporation is free of avarice.

Six California nonprofit corporations must cease telemarketing activities under an agreement with the Federal Trade Commission. Despite names that aim to trigger generous impulses, the fake charities were controlled by "unscrupulous fund-raisers for their personal profit," according to the FTC.
