A BREAK FOR KIDS.(West Side Journal)

The ATA Black Belt Academy from Rio Rancho went into action recently to help at-risk children.

The group participated in an event to raise money for Project Action Foundation, which helps prevent juvenile crime by offering disadvantaged children a chance to become involved in physical and cultural arts programs.

Academy students were at Cottonwood Mall to help break the world record for the most simultaneous karate breaks across the country in one hour. The record is 50,381 breaks.

Project Action events specialist Alicia Soriano said that participants nationwide will likely break the record but that the foundation is waiting for information from 20 studios. …
