* Record 270 students going through commencement this year

Each year the record falls, and 2003 is no exception.

Saturday morning, 270 seniors at Moriarty High School will become graduates, nearly 30 more than graduated from the school last year.

Commencement ceremonies will take place at the football field beginning at 9 a.m. Mark Tolley, principal of the school, said there will be some changes at this year's ceremony.

The first will be to seat graduates in alphabetical order, he said. In the past, seniors were given the choice of who they wanted to sit next to. Tolley said that was a fine tradition when the school had fewer students, but parents complained that it was difficult to know when their graduate was going to walk up on stage to get their diploma. …
