Estranged Wife Visited Him Despite Court Order

On a cold night in late December 2001, Jessica Romero De Herrera showed up at her estranged husband's La Puebla home, despite a court order that he stay away from her for assaulting her with a knife a couple of months earlier.

De Herrera died that night, of "mechanical injuries of the head," according to her autopsy, and was found in her estranged husband Anthony Romero's bed.

Wednesday, a Santa Fe jury convicted Romero of second-degree murder for De Herrera's death.

Romero, 31, faces a maximum possible prison sentence of 30 years for the murder and other related charges. …
