'Prayer Warrior' Cared About Kids.(Final)(Obituary)

Evelyn Ford, longtime advocate for New Mexico's at-risk children, didn't just work with kids, her family said, but also cared about them.

The Albuquerque resident was a pastor's wife and mother of two ministers. Ford, 92, died Friday of natural causes at Albuquerque Manor.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Monte Vista Christian Church, 3501 Campus NE.

Ford, a petite woman, was known for her vivacious personality, red hair, smile and steadfastness, friends said.

"She was a prayer warrior ... and trooper," said Adeline Wheeler.

She said Ford had long lists of people she prayed for and also was quite active in making sure children from broken homes "got a fair break and the best help that they could get. …
