Administrators at Valley and Cibola high schools want to start using a security model touted for reducing crime at Rio Grande High School.

Rio Grande had 133 reported criminal incidents for the 2001-2002 school year -- the highest of any school in the district. Earlier this month, school police credited the model with reducing that number to 79 crimes this year.

Valley ranked behind Rio Grande, West Mesa and Albuquerque High in the 2001-2002 school year for reported crimes at its campus. Cibola ranked sixth out of 11.

Valley and Cibola each have five campus security aides who wear plain clothes and report to the school principal. …
