Johnson Trip To Top Of Everest Delayed.(Final)

SANTA FE -- Former Gov. Gary Johnson and his team decided to pull back from their first summit push to the top of Mount Everest because of bad weather and crowds of climbers, his wife said Wednesday.

Johnson, who had hoped to stand on top of the world by today, now plans to try to summit Everest on May 29, Dee Johnson said in a telephone interview.

"The saga continues," Dee Johnson said.

The former first lady said Johnson called her Wednesday by satellite telephone from Everest base camp at 17,600-feet to say that his expedition had decided against trying to reach the summit this week. …
