Sheriff Reports Flooded Roads

High winds and a deluge of rain spun cars into ditches and knocked out power for some residents in Torrance and Bernalillo counties.

Torrance County Sheriff Pete Golden said his department fielded several reports of flooded roads. Deputies spent some of the evening fishing vehicles out of rural ditches and arroyos.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or damages to homes, farms or businesses.

A flood advisory was issued for Moriarty, Escobosa and Chilili shortly before 5:30 p.m., said David Craft, a National Weather Service meteorologist.

The advisory came after weather service radar reported as much as 21/2 inches of rain falling in uninhabited parts of Torrance County. …
