Police and city officials on Monday gathered at Albuquerque's Civic Plaza to honor deputies and police officers who died in the line of duty.

The fifth annual event was hosted by the Albuquerque Police Department and the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department and organized as part of national Law Enforcement Memorial Week, May 12-19.

Since 1886, 17 Albuquerque police officers and sheriff's deputies have been killed in the line of duty.
