Coach Takes Over Football Program


West Mesa High School is turning to some young blood to take over its football program.

The Mustangs late last week tabbed 31-year-old Rio Rancho defensive coordinator Greg Youngblood as their next head coach. He replaces Alfredo Martinez, who unexpectedly resigned last month after four seasons.

"There are certain things you can never be 100 percent prepared for -- you have to get there and experience it," said Youngblood. "I felt I had enough experience and was enthusiastic enough to give it a shot."

Youngblood has been Rio Rancho's defensive coordinator the last three seasons. …
