County May Keep Old Water Rules.(Journal North)

Decision Could Come Next Week

For the past two weeks, Santa Fe residents have been able to water lawns and gardens three times a week while their neighbors in the county remain under Stage 3 drought restrictions.

If District 4 Commissioner Paul Campos has his way, that's how things will stay.

Campos opposes the county following the city's decision to move into less-restrictive Stage 2 water rules.

"We are still putting stress on the aquifer," Campos said. "We don't have to follow the city. I think it would be best for the county to stay in Stage 3."

Whether the county does decide to ease up on its drought restrictions could be decided by the commission as early as next week. …
