Bump Finally Grinds Out Win

A postcard perfect Sunday afternoon for the Albuquerque Isotopes went thusly:

They beat Nashville 6-3 at Isotopes Park as right-hander Nate Bump gained his first win in a month. Robert Stratton clubbed his 15th homer. And newcomer Wilson Valdez delivered a two-out, two-run single for insurance runs.

Plus, it all happened before a spillover crowd of 11,573, and much more quickly -- 2 hours, 15 minutes -- than the average Kevin Costner epic.

The third win in the four-game set with the Sounds also heartened an Isotopes team with a changing complexion. Early Sunday, outfielder Chad Allen finally was rewarded for his persistence and performance by being called up by Florida. …
