Teamwork Keeps Casa From Closing Doors.(Final)(Editorial)

A crisis that kindled anger, dismay and regrettable words of frustration has been resolved in a pulling together of effort and resources by three governments and their citizens.

Historic Casa San Ysidro in Corrales is, for a year at least, safe from closure or having its contents moved to Albuquerque, thanks to cooperation between Sandoval County, Corrales and Albuquerque, with a little help from corporate neighbor Intel.

Plus, a pledge from an anonymous donor will aid in the search for long-term funding and assist with marketing of the Spanish Colonial Museum, which currently attracts about 8,500 visitors a year.

The resolution shouldn't void Mayor Martin Chavez's idea that items in Casa's voluminous collection be shared with the BioPark, where more visitors will see them. …
