La Cueva Takes Title, Finishes 29-0

FARMINGTON -- Dead-solid perfect.

La Cueva completed one of the most impressive seasons in New Mexico prep baseball history Saturday night, overwhelming Las Cruces 13-4 in the Class 5A state tournament championship game at Ricketts Park.

The Bears blasted four home runs en route to completing a perfect 29-0 season. It was the 23rd time La Cueva scored 10 runs or more.

James Parr, Billy Hogan, Matt Quillen and Andrew Salas hit long balls, increasing the team's remarkable season total to 79. The Bears also turned in several top-notch defensive plays, while their pitchers struck out nine to punctuate the championship victory. …
