Charges Include Attempted Murder
LOS CHAVEZ -- A former Santa Fe County sheriff's deputy pleaded not guilty Friday to multiple charges including attempted murder of his wife and a district court administrator.
Rigoberto "Rigo" Martinez, 34, of Veguita was arrested after a Valencia County sheriff's deputy shot him in the leg with beanbags Wednesday.
He has been charged with two counts of attempted murder, aggravated stalking, aggravated DWI, negligent use of a deadly weapon, disorderly conduct, and resisting, evading and eluding a police officer.
He pleaded not guilty to all charges Friday morning during his arraignment hearing in Magistrate Court in Belen. …
