Four to be honored at Senior Hall of Fame lunch for their years of community involvement

Each year for the past two decades several older adults in the community have been inducted into the Senior Hall of Fame for their history of community service.

This year four locals will be honored at the 21st annual Hall of Fame Awards Luncheon.

In addition to the luncheon, nonprofit Silver Horizons, which sponsors the awards, will host a silent auction. About 40 items worth about $10,000 will be auctioned, says Wendy Shannon, chairwoman of the luncheon.

"Proceeds go towards supporting seniors in our community," says Shannon. The all-volunteer organization partners with the City of Albuquerque's Department of Senior Affairs to aid those in need.

Here are the honorees for 2003 as well as a sampling of their contributions to the community.
