Roberto Griego found himself glued to his television in the aftermath of 9-11, watching the horrific images of terrorism and trying to deal with his sense of growing anger. Finally, he picked up his guitar and calmed his emotions through music.

The result was "Americans Will Unite," an English-language song penned by the Albuquerque recording artist best known for his Hispanic and bilingual music.

"I found myself strumming an angry rhythm," says Griego, 55.

Eventually, the lead-in to the song switched to a strong military drumbeat, but Griego's lyrics remained: "I was born an American, I was raised an American, I served my America, and I'd die for America. …
