You can find gambling, food and entertainment at pueblo casinos

Gaming is in full swing in New Mexico's high country.

Everything from betting on horse races to roulette, craps, blackjack, poker, bingo and slots can be found at various pueblo-operated casinos. Five of the eight northern New Mexico pueblos have casinos.

Four of the gaming centers are on the road to Taos and the fifth, Taos Mountain Casino, is in Taos. The other northern pueblos with casinos are Santa Clara, San Juan, Pojoaque and Tesuque.

If you are in Taos, you can't miss Taos Mountain Casino. It sits on the northern end of town, almost at the end of a long, lazy curve on the main street.

The signature marketing tool at Taos Mountain Casino is that it is New Mexico's only fully nonsmoking gambling facility.

It is also the state's coziest and most relaxed casino. Small, intimate, friendly and yet it has more than 182 state-of-the-art, fresh-off-the-factory-floor slot machines. All the latest in celebrity slots can be found there. Add to that four blackjack stands and a sparkling new craps table, set to be in action by June 1.
