Hot springs in the Jemez Mountains have been soothing for centuries

Do you need to release some stress? Does a short road trip sound good? If so, head for the mountains north of Santa Fe, where you can plop yourself in a hot spring nestled among pinons and junipers.

Thanks to an immense volcanic eruption nearly 1.5 million years ago, you can luxuriate in hot springs tucked away in the Jemez Mountains among some of the most beautiful scenery to be found.

While the entire Jemez range is dotted with hot springs, Spence and San Antonio are two that are easily accessible and free.
