A challenging path or a more relaxing stroll can be found at hiking area

After you have polished off a green chile breakfast burrito and before you relax for a late lunch in Downtown Santa Fe, you might want to snap on a fanny pack and take a hike. And you don't have to leave the City Different to do so.

Santa Fe's newest hiking area is the Dale Ball Trail System on the eastern cusp of the city's sprawl.

The system has two trailheads one about two miles up Hyde Park Road, the other at the intersection of Cerro Gordo and Upper Canyon Drive.

If you are in the mood for a rigorous half-day trek through spectacular scenery, take the Hyde Park leg. A few miles into the hike, the trail bisects other well-established routes that honeycomb the ridges and valleys of the area. …
