* Local viewers applaud intellectual themes, special effects. But the romance? Yuck!

"The Matrix Reloaded" contains plenty of philosophical, religious, romantic and existential references. But that wasn't what brought Vince Warren to one of the very first showings of "The Matrix" sequel Thursday in Albuquerque.

"I like the action," said the off-duty city firefighter. "I don't care about the romance. I came to see more of them flying around."

The much anticipated second act of "The Matrix" trilogy opened Thursday to enthusiastic audiences in Albuquerque. The online movie ticket service Fandango said Thursday morning it was selling three tickets per second for "Reloaded," more tickets at that point in the sales cycle than for any other movie in the company's history. …
