It's not every musical act that can find acceptance among American listeners while performing its tunes in a language other than English.

While numerous Spanish language artists have found mainstream U.S. success in the past few years during the Latin music boom, many of them might owe a debt to the legendary Cajun band BeauSoleil for paving the way with its repertoire that is performed mostly in French.

The group which performs Saturday at the Lensic has been around for more than a quarter-century, charming audiences from coast to coast with an irresistible, good-times sound that reflects the highest traditions of American roots music. …
