Spanish Poet Wrote Farce for Mature Audiences

It's a class reunion when a troupe of puppeteers takes the stage tonight at the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture to present "The Portrait of Don Cristobal."

And it's an unlikely sort of puppet production, one fitting for more mature audiences.

Spanish poet Federico Garcia Lorca, considered one of Spain's two greatest poets of the 20th century, penned "Don Cristobal." Presented as farce, it embraces sexuality, violence and criminality in a disquieting fashion. But the actors believe this form allows them to vent darker passions unexplored in conventional theater. …
