"Meronna," the title of Tuesday evening's Butoh dance performance at Rodey Theatre, is translated as "like a melon," implying the rich fullness of an internal life experience. Kota Yamazaki and Mina Nishamura of Japan and New York City, created through dance movement the flow of this life in a timeless space.

The experience for the audience was one of mesmeric fascination, as the dancers seemed to swim in the air, their bodies like ectoplasmic sculptures moving in fluid yet passionate concentration.
