One of New Mexico's most prominent fly fishermen got off to such a rough start in his younger days that he still has clear memories of the experience.

Bill Black, now author of many fly-fishing books and retired as professor of pathology at the University of New Mexico Medical School, will highlight some of those years in his keynote address at New Mexico Trout's upcoming Spring Fling 2003.

"I'll go back to my own beginnings as a kid," he says.
