Loss to Loving Doesn't Slow Down Estancia.(Mountain View)

If you believe in third-time charms, you have to like Estancia High's chances at the 1A-2A state baseball playoffs starting today in Farmington.

Estancia (18-3), the Region C runner-up, could use a little magic if it is to survive an opening round quarterfinal contest against defending state champion Jemez Valley, the Region A champ, starting at 5 p.m. at Ricketts Field.

The Bears are making their third appearance in as many years at the state finals. They finished second last year after Jemez Valley roughed them up 9-2 in the state title game.

"We should have no problem getting up for that one," said Estancia senior center fielder David Benakis. …
