ESPANOLA An 18-year-old woman is in critical condition after an all-terrain vehicle accident this past weekend, authorities say.
Liza C. Garcia, of Espanola, was airlifted to University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque on Saturday after she wrecked a four-wheeler on Forest Road 559 near El Rito, Deputy Jeff Jacquez of the Rio Arriba County Sheriff's Department said.
Garcia was apparently drinking with friends at a weekend campout in the national forest before the crash, he said.
Garcia suffered a punctured lung and broken jaw, ribs and teeth, he said.
She was in critical condition Wednesday afternoon, said Cindy Foster, a spokeswoman at UNMH. …
