Council Approves Wage Law Study.(Journal North)

The Santa Fe City Council on Wednesday unanimously approved a contract with a University of New Mexico economic research organization to study the city's living wage law.

The council decision comes a little over two months after it passed the law, which aims to raise Santa Fe's minimum wage at certain businesses. It also comes in the wake of several other studies done on the measure's potential economic impacts.

The $55,000 contract will allow the Bureau of Business and Economic Research at UNM to study what businesses will be affected by the law, how many employees will be affected and other potential fiscal impacts. …
