Murder Trial Defense Challenges Autopsy.(Journal North)

A defense attorney said his client Anthony Romero could not have killed his estranged wife because she died of natural causes and not the head injuries stated as the cause of death in her autopsy.

Romero's murder trial started Wednesday before Santa Fe District Judge Michael Vigil

Romero, 31, is accused of killing Jessica Romero de Herrera in December 2001, at a time when he was under house arrest and a court order to stay away from her.

Romero's attorney, Dan Marlowe, said that de Herrera, before she died, had gone to Romoro's La Puebla home Dec. 28, 2001, and started a drunken fight with Romero. …
