Council Allocates $63,333 for Site

The Corrales Village Council became the first municipality outside of Albuquerque to come up with substantial funding for Casa San Ysidro.

The council unanimously approved a $63,333 appropriation to help keep the Casa open for another year. Meanwhile, several community leaders are looking for longterm funding.

Former Sen. Pauline Eisenstadt said the appropriation is vitally important for negotiations with Albuquerque over the museum's future. "People understand the value and treasure of this historic museum," she said Tuesday night at the Corrales Village Council meeting. …
