Court Records Shed Some Light on Investigator's Mounting Troubles

While police pointed rifles at Attorney General investigator Karen Yontz and commanded her to drop her gun, Yontz remained in her car with money she stole from a bank, shook her head side to side, and said, "You're going to have to shoot me," court records said.

Seconds later, Yontz raised her handgun toward an officer, and several shots rang out.

Police pulled Yontz off the steering wheel and out of the car and handcuffed her. But Yontz was already dead.

That is what investigators say in a recent affidavit about the May 2 mid-morning standoff with Yontz outside Whataburger near Jefferson and Osuna NE. …
