Cartwright Wins In Sudden Death

ISLETA PUEBLO For the second straight day, it took Catherine Cartwright six strokes to complete the par-4 18th hole of the Isleta Eagle Golf Course.

Sunday, however, she played the hole twice once in sudden death and captured the $95,000 Isleta Futures Golf Classic.

"I was ready for some revenge on that hole," said Cartwright, who made a double-bogey 6 on the 18th a day earlier to lose the second-round lead. "I got revenge twice."

Cartwright, who closed with a 5-under 67 to tie the previous women's course record, finished the 54-hole event at 3-under 213.

However, if not for birdies on the final two holes she would have been runner-up to Brazil's Candy Hannemann, who shot a blistering 65 Sunday to set a new women's course record. …
