Speech Expected To Tout Tax Cuts

Ted R. Martinez was a high school dropout with $200 and a welder when he started his business 30 years ago.

Today, MCT Industries Inc. has four sites and tens of millions of dollars in annual sales.

It's a success story expected to be recognized today when President Bush visits MCT's Bernalillo plant to deliver a speech most likely promoting his plans to boost the economy by cutting taxes.

Sen. Pete Domenici, R-N.M., suggested using MCT as the venue for the president's address.

Martinez has been a friend of the senator and loaned his grounds for a Domenici TV ad during his 2002 campaign, said Amy Hoskins of the senator's staff. …
