Huning Castle Apartments plan returns.(Business Outlook)

Plans to build apartments where Huning Castle once stood will move forward after all. The $4.4 million Huning Castle Apartments project was put on hold three years ago because of increases in interest rates and materials and labor costs. Now all three have come down sufficiently to make the project financially viable, said owner Tom Keleher.

Plans still call for some architectural similarity to the original Huning Castle, completed in 1883 by merchant Franz Huning, a German immigrant. Huning styled his mansion after those along his homeland's Rhine River. As a boy, Keleher's father, William, worked for Western Union and delivered telegrams to Huning. William grew up to be a lawyer and bought the property in the early 1930s after Huning's death. …
