* Theaterwork director calls comedy a fractured three-ring circus

American playwright Thornton Wilder once called "The Skin of Our Teeth" "a history of mankind in a comic strip."

Theaterwork's artistic director David Olson finds the script so hilarious that he has to control his laughing while he provides direction to his actors.

"Wilder pokes good-humored fun at the theater and the foibles of theater people," Olson remarked. "Audience members shouldn't try to make too much sense of all parts of 'The Skin of Our Teeth.' Some of it is just plain fun. It's a tremendous ride through the history of man, exaggerated theater techniques and visual images of all kinds. …
