'Hungry' Richardson Seen as Circling the Presidency.(Final)

SANTA FE When Gov. Bill Richardson arrived at the recent state Democratic convention in Albuquerque he was greeted by Las Cruces businesswoman Mary Gail Gwaltney, who called him "the next president of the United States."

Gwaltney, New Mexico's longtime Democratic national committeewoman, told me later she "would like to see Bill Richardson elected president one day.

"With his experience in Washington as a U.S. ambassador and U.S. Energy secretary, he's certainly on everybody's list to be vice president," Gwaltney said. "So, if this isn't his year for president, then perhaps in four years."
