Four Seniors Win Awards of $2,000.(Journal North)

Four Los Alamos High School seniors have been selected for $2,000 scholarships by the J. Robert Oppenheimer Memorial Committee.

The awards will be presented at the high school honors convocation.

Mariana Uribe, daughter of Cheryl Wampler and Francisco Uribe, will receive the scholarship for outstanding promise in science and mathematics. A National Merit finalist and National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar, she plans to attend Williams College to study biology and biochemistry in preparation for a medical career.

Jessie Schroeder, daughter of Jeff and Mary Kay Schroeder, was selected for the Oppenheimer scholarship awarded in memory of Mary Langs Argo to a young woman with outstanding promise in the arts or sciences. …
