Bougainvillea Can Provide Plenty of Color.(West Side Journal)

Q. I have a very sunny portal and have planted several big pots with flowers that look great. Now I'm looking for flowers that I can use to get lots of color in hanging baskets. Any suggestions?

First I'd suggest trying bougainvillea. The riot of color they can offer is marvelous! Brilliant reds, hot pinks, dandy oranges, rusty purples, bright whites, and just about any other color you can imagine.

Another nifty reason to use the bougainvillea is the amount of abuse they can withstand and, in fact, thrive on. Keep them a smidgen on the dry side and the bougainvillea will flower better for it.

Be careful when you're transplanting, as the bougainvillea are very shallowly rooted and don't like to have their roots disturbed too much. …
