President and First Lady Greeted by Pals and Protesters

Hundreds Protest Bush's Policies

As many as 250 protesters lined one side of West Alameda Street Friday in the hours leading up to first lady Laura Bush's scheduled appearance at a children's dance performance at the National Dance Institute.

With major combat operations in Iraq over, the protesters said they still had reason to oppose U.S. foreign policy under President Bush and the occupation of Iraq by American troops. The protesters were equally critical of Bush's handling of domestic affairs, including the economy.

"Let's remember that President Bush's domestic policies as well as his foreign policies are a problem to the peace community," said Peggy Prince, director of Peace Action New Mexico. …
