Woman's Friends Ranged From Artists to Commanders.(Final)(Obituary)

Frances Marie Ness

Frances Marie Ness of Alamogordo, who counted artists, Air Force base commanders and ranchers as friends, died Friday in an Odessa, Texas, hospital.

Ness, 78, grew up in Arkansas and east Texas and met her husband, artist Carl E. Ness, when both worked at Ruidoso Downs in 1952, said her son, Erik Ness.

The couple later owned Pic Frame, a picture framing business in Alamogordo. She became very involved in the art community and developed friendships with military personnel at Holloman Air Force Base, where she had worked for the Officers' Club.

"She treated everyone from the lowest-ranking airman to the base commander the same," Erik Ness said. …
