City To Pay $450,000 To Settle Airport Suit.(Final)

The city of Albuquerque will pay $450,000 to settle claims in a contractor's lawsuit stating he was publicly and unfairly blamed for cost overruns on the airport observation deck.

The lawsuit filed by Lou Sadler and Sadler Southwest against the city and other defendants in 1998 was to have gone to trial next week before Judge Wendy York.

A trial is still scheduled, but the city won't be part of it.

Last-minute mediation efforts by retired Supreme Court Justice Gene Franchini and District Judge Ted Baca resulted in the agreement with the city, which was placed on the record during a hearing last week. …
