Carey Says His Doctor Has Given Him The OK To Play

The University of New Mexico men's basketball team may be short yet one more player for the start of the 2003-04 season.

Freshman guard Mark Walters suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during a Wednesday morning workout.

Meanwhile, senior Senque Carey says he hopes to be back in a Lobos uniform in the fall, but he's not sure what UNM wants. Carey, who suffered a major spine injury last year, said the doctor who operated on him in January has cleared him to play basketball.

Carey, however, still needs clearance from UNM doctors, and there has been no indication of that being the case at this time. …
