Vendors say LANL moratorium hurts.(Business Outlook)

LOS ALAMOS In its effort to clean up business practices and increase the accuracy of the procurement process, Los Alamos National Laboratory may be inadvertently putting a financial pinch on many of its suppliers, the vendors say.

Beginning in mid-April, the lab told employees and vendors they could no longer use certain computer catalogs to order supplies such as copper wire, valves or wrenches until the catalogs had been updated with new price and description information.

The catalogs in question are used in the lab's "Just in Time," or JIT, program that was designed to provide parts and supplies to lab personnel quickly and when needed. …
