Veteran Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico executive Elizabeth Watrin is the company's new president.

Watrin, 40, succeeds Norman P. Becker, who left the company to lead Lovelace Sandia Health System.

Health Care Service Corp. president and CEO Raymond F. McCaskey announced her appointment saying, "She is perfectly positioned to build on the momentum the entire staff has generated during the past several years."

Health Care Service owns the New Mexico company and Blue Cross and Blue Shield operations in Illinois and Texas.

In an interview, Watrin said her appointment reflects the company's desire to place "a strong focus on the customer. …
