Interview Room Coming to Area
Several agencies working together will make things a little less stressful for the youngest victims of domestic abuse.
United Way of Central New Mexico awarded $24,000 to establish a Safehouse for children in Torrance County.
A Safehouse is a specially designed room where a trained interviewer can talk to children who might have been abused. The room is equipped with video cameras so police and prosecutors can watch and record the interview from a separate room.
This makes it possible to conduct the interview in a place a child feels comfortable. The videotaped interview can then be used in court as evidence. …
